Acrostic (Chapter 11)

T houghtful but filled with
H onor, not power.
E xhausting experiences.

N ew things to learn
E very single day
W ith happiness and pain.

R ecognizing that there is more.
E xciting things but
C ONTROLE everywhere to
E veryone.
I t started with snow and a sled
V ery fast.
E ndless
R ecovering.

O nce he felt the
F rigid and received this

M emory.
E verytime he will be
M ore and more
O mniscient.
R eceiving some things and losing his
Y outh.

  1. I really like this. But I don't think you can be "more and more omniscient" as omniscient already means that you know everything. I especially like the idea of Jonas losing his youth as he learns.

  2. I have to say I agree with josman, but I can't really tell why I think that children actually do not really have a childhood in the Giver's community - even before the Ceremony of Twelve. Everything seems so planned - this is not the way I observe children under 12 act. But I agree too your point that Jonas might lose something despite of these facts. At least that's the feeling that chapters 10 and 11 left behind with me as well.
